Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego is seeking an adult cardiac surgeon with an interest in heart transplantation, ventricular assist devices and ECMO to join our busy practice.  The ideal candidate will have additional training or experience in heart transplantation, heart failure, ECMO as well as organ procurement.  Experience with Trans-Medics OCS, DCD and NRP is desirable but not required.  In addition to responsibilities related to the transplant program, the candidate will also be able to perform all types of adult cardiac surgery including CABG, valve repair for replacement, aortic procedures, complex re-operative surgery and trans-catheter valve procedures.

Sharp Memorial Hospital is the largest hospital within Sharp Healthcare and is the home of the Sharp transplant program.  The transplant and VAD and ECMO program has been in continuous operation for over 35 years.  The ECMO program provides care for over 150 patients per year and is the founding member of the San Diego extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) program where patients suffering from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest are transported by EMS to the ER where staff are equipped to provide ECPR using ECMO.  In addition to bread and butter cardiac surgery, Sharp memorial has a busy minimally invasive cardiac surgery program performing robotic cardiac surgery and minimally invasive aortic valve replacements and repairs.
