Position Summary: Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) and the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine seek an accomplished and forward-thinking Cardiac Imaging Physician (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) to lead the development and growth of an Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a Cardiac Imaging Physician with a passion for education and transforming health care delivery in rural and resource-constrained communities through innovation, technology, and systems-based thinking.
The Program Director will partner with departmental and institutional leadership to lead and develop the program’s clinical, educational, and community-facing missions and to lead a training program that will prepare cardiologists to run a state-of-the-art noninvasive imaging service and conduct cardiovascular imaging research.
This opportunity utilizes a dedicated cardiac imaging center:
Dedicated cardiac CT (Siemens Force performing 600 scans/month)
Nuclear Medicine- 2 CardioMDs (300 stress and non stress/month)
Echocardiography- 5 outpatient-only units (550 exams/month)
Dedicated cardiac MRI (Siemens Sola) 1.5T(80 scans/month on a non-cardiac dedicated scanner)
HeartFlow Program- Received Quality awards quarterly, Direct flow pathway
Structural TEE program to support TAVR, Mitral Clip, Watchman, PFO/ASD Closure
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and lead the educational infrastructure of the Cardiac Imaging Program, contributing to curriculum design, resident evaluation, and faculty development.
Collaborate across service lines to create meaningful educational experiences.
Mentor residents and fellows in scholarly activity and foster a spirit of inquiry, reflection, and professional growth.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
Must have an MD, DO or foreign equivalent and obtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license and DEA
Successful completion of ACGME accredited Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiovascular fellowship program
Board certified /eligible in Cardiology
Subspeciality certification in advanced imaging field
Other Considerations:
desire for longer term academic career pathway.
Prior experience in graduate medical education, with a strong interest in academic leadership and program development.

The CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine is West Virginia’s premier medical teaching facility, hosting more than 1,000 learners every day in programs leading to health professions degrees and certifications.
The Institute offers continuing education, outreach, research support and patient education. It also sponsors more than 20 ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs, as well as three pharmacy residencies, a clinical psychology internship and post graduate position, and a School of Nurse Anesthesia (affiliated with the University of Charleston). Programs designed to meet the needs of the community in which we serve are constantly being developed.
The CAMC Center for Learning and Research, home to the Institute, provides advanced simulation-based clinical training in a realistic environment. The facility includes operating rooms, a critical care room, a labor and delivery suite and multiple inpatient and outpatient training rooms to help learners practice skills and procedures safely.
