Description

Is able to locate all required safety literature, including MSDS sheets. Under the direction and supervision of a qualified physician, the equipment for in Ultrasonographer is responsible for the operation of diagnostic ultrasound the performance of all dynamic ultrasound procedures requiring a level of independent judgment making ability, ingenuity, and initiative, not requiring direct supervision. The Ultrasound department is multi-disciplinary; including abdomen, OB/GYN, small parts vascular studies, and echocardiography. If the incumbent is not qualified in echocardiography or vascular examinations, training these modalities is expected to be completed within one year of the date of hire. The Ultrasonographer contributes to teaching and inservices, strives to develop and enhance Ultrasound skills, shares with call responsibilities, performs administrative duties, and sees to the operation and efficient operation of the department. In the absence of an immediate supervisor may assume leadership role in the department. The employee strives to fulfill the mission statement of the hospital.

Responsibilities
- 1. Ultrasound Department and Equipment
- 1.1 Knowledge of Safe and Effective operation of Ultrasound units.
- 2. Safety
- 2.1 Adheres to Safe Use and Disposal policy for Cidex (Safety equip, PPD)
- 3. Time Managment
- 3.1 Works efficiently and independently and completes work assignments including exam and worksheets.
- 4. Ultrasound Exam Competency
- 4.1 Utilizes correct transducer and Exam settings to optimize equipment performance and safety (ALARA: As Low As Reasonable Allowable).
- 5. Communication
- 5.1 Effectively utilizes Affinity, Pac's EDM and Scheduling program.
- 6. Patient Competencies
- 6.1 Verifies Patient Identification (2 Identifiers), Examination requested and Utilizes time out for Invasive Procedures.
- 7. Policies and Procedures
- 7.1 Completes Advanced Competencies for: Biopsy/Invasive Procedures, Stress, Echo, Dobutamine Stress Echo and Tran esophageal Echo.
- 8. Scheduling
- 8.1 Accommodates Requests for Ultrasound Examinations.
EDUCATION
Satisfactory completion of an ultrasound-training program. Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARMDS) or Registry eligible.
EXPERIENCE
Demonstrates an equivalent combination of education and/or experience specifically in ultrasound. Six month or more experience preferred
LICENSURE
CPR certification (BLS) required ARDMS required
